The H-POL8 will take place at the Symposium hotel of Creta Maris in the resort town of Hersonissos, close to Heraklion, the main city of the Greek Island of Crete. Crete was the center of the Minoan civilization, which flourished at about 2000 B.C. There are many archaeological sites throughout the island, with the palace of Knossos being the most well known.

The symposium village, Hersonissos, is situated about 25 km east of the city of Heraklion and can be reached by bus or taxi from the Heraklion airport or harbor. Heraklion is directly connected to Athens International Airport with about 10 domestic flights daily run by Olympic Air and Aegean Airlines. There are also direct scheduled airline connections from major European cities as well as many charter flights from most European countries. Alternatively, one can use the ferry-boat connecting Heraklion with the harbor of Piraeus (Athens). Connection is offered by Minoan Lines, ANEK Lines or Super Fast Ferries and the overnight trip takes about 7 hours.
